NAME: 64 CHAVCHAVADZE AVENUE
LOCATION: TBILISI, REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA
ARCHITECT: ARCHITECTURAL GROUP & PARTNERS

DESCRIPTION:
A mixed use project that includes a 30-story residential tower with retail on the lower four levels, a 14-story hotel, and three levels of subterranean parking under the entire project. Although concrete is the predominant construction material in this region, the owner has elected to use steel framing and a composite metal deck for the residential tower. Design has been underway since early 2009 with construction expected to start in the fall of 2010.

This site is located in a high seismic region and is subject to high winds, with speeds similar to those on the eastern seaboard of the US. A wind tunnel study was completed by RWDI of England. We will use data from that study to provide additional damping to the structure for occupant comfort.
