This was a unique design assist collaborative project that consisted of three different components. The first was a 200’ long x 60’ wide x 45’ clear height structure to enclose a freezer – a box within a box. The freezer was storing blood plasma at -31⁰F. The structure was steel framed with non-load bearing precast panels as the exterior walls. The center portion was a lab and processing area totaling 35,000 sf. The structure was composite steel joists and designed for tornado impact loads. The front portion was a two story steel framed building totaling 41,000 sf and served as their corporate headquarters in the US.

The owner was consolidating 45 disparate facilities around the US and bringing the plasma testing in-house. They estimated they were saving $1,000,000 a month. We used a modified version of our Complete Structural Package™ to speed the delivery of steel to the project.
